HP has announced their success in creating a working memory chip through a lithographic (printing) process that may one day allow 10 times the density of current computer circuitry to be printed onto a silicon wafer. Their experimental chip is already a mere 1-micron across, "an area so tiny that more than 1,000 of these circuits could fit on the end of a single strand of a human hair," they point out.
