Apple has released a security update to fix the dangerous OS X vulnerability disclosed earlier this week and reported here yesterday. The security update should be available through the Software Update Preference Pane as of this evening. A standalone updater is also available from Apple. The security update replaces the Help Viewer application to prevent malicious code from being executed. Good News, Bad News While Apple has fixed the problem with admirable speed, they haven't fixed it for all versions of OS X. The update will only install under OS X 10.3.3. This means that any Mac user who is running an earlier version of OS X will still be vulnerable to the security hole unless they perfom the fix described in the previous article using the More Internet Preference Pane.
