In case you are wondering, "Minor Catastrophic Data Loss - Part One" was was a temporary message posted on Sunday. My web host suffered a crash that took this site offline early Saturday morning. The cool-mac e-mail server was also down, so that I am certainly missing some e-mail from this weekend. The site's daily backup file was not recoverable. A backup from mid-September was found and you would have seen that site if you logged in on Sunday. Finally, a more recent backup was found and that is what's up and running now. So far as I can tell, data loss has been restricted to some of Saturday's e-mails and a few comments on the last two stories. Everyone with a cool-mac.com POP account should be aware that they may be missing some e-mails. My shared web host -- OLM.net -- is consistently ranked one of the best in the business. It just goes to show that this could happen to almost anyone. Make redundant backups!
