It's possible. Yes, it's even likely that the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" movie will be the worst movie ever made in all of time and space.
I used to see Douglas Adams at conventions all the time. There was always a Q&A session and he was always asked why there hadn't been a Hitchhikers movie. He told us that he hadn't finished a script (but maybe he would do it with a co-writer) and anyway if they had a script they couldn't make it because there was a rights dispute and he was convinced that the company that had the option (Disney) lacked the soul to make it properly so he would never sign off on the movie. Shortly before his untimely death, the story changed to "I think we may be able to do it soon because we're trying to get the rights back."
'Guess he didn't get the rights back.
Reviews from the screener are out and they are dismal. The most awaited review from the Planet Magrathea fan site has been slashdotted, and is presently offline, but here's a brief excerpt:
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie is an abomination. Whereas the radio show, TV show, books and computer game are all recognizably variations on a theme, this is something new and almost entirely unrelated. It’s not even a good film if viewed as an original work: the characters are unsympathetic, the cast exhibit no chemistry, the direction is pedestrian, the pace plodding, the special effects overpowering (lots and lots of special effects, none of them funny mind you) and above all the script is amazingly, mindbogglingly awful. Oh, and they have taken most of the jokes out.
Other reviewers have been more kind... Or have they? Ain't It Cool News tried to present a positive and negative set of reviews, but the "positive" version has been undermined by accusations that it was written solely to offset the otherwise wholly negative reviews. The "negative" review from the site may be summed up with this quote:
That’s right’s folks: PANIC.
So what's the moral of this story? Well, for Douglas Adams the moral should have been, don't say "Disney can have this film over my dead body!" unless you mean it.
...and don't ever mean it. We miss you!!

Sick, man. I knew it was bad, but either this guy is a total freak or it's REALLY REALLY BAD.
