Windows Machines Vulnerable Says Redundant Report Redundant Print E-mail
Friday, 01 July 2005 01:56

Per ZDNet Australia, Sophos -- a company that only incidentally makes money from exploiting people's fear of viruses and malware -- has offered another in a series of selfless public service announcements, this time reporting the most dire news yet:

There is a 50 percent chance your unprotected Windows PC will be compromised within 12 minutes of going online!

I, for one, am shocked -- I SAY SHOCKED that the world has come to this.

Why, just last year my mother's (then) new Dell was hooked up to the cable modem for all of 18-minutes before it became riddled with spyware. In no time at all, we'll be breaking that vital 10-minute barrier whereupon in the time it takes to run the Windows setup wizard, your machine will already have become infected.

Soon enough, PC's will simply ship with the viruses pre-installed for your convenience.
