So What's Been going On...? |

It seems that every time that I make a significant update to this site, my hosting company has some sort of problem -- typically a drive-crash -- and they have to revert to an ancient backup.
While I know that I can't rely on the host's backups, I keep forgetting to make my own.
So the October post keeps getting bumped down and then returning. And I've lost a half-dozen items, including some very nice bits of AppleScript that I thought might be useful to anyone who happens to Google over here.
I don't really know what to do about this situation. They assure me that it's not going to happen again and then it happens again. From what I can tell, this is one of the better hosts out there and I'm not happy with the idea of moving my site elsewhere. There's a lot of complications to changing hosts. I'd have to deal not only with moving the blog -- with all of the permissions that would have to be carefully set on the new site -- but also the iMacquarium subdomain and my mail accounts and loads of other stuff that has accumulated over the years.
Well, that's my problem, I guess. 'Just thought you should know what was going on.
