Looking at the guitar tabs for the first time, I just played a long Grateful Dead tune straight through without a pause or mistake.

That was nice.

I haven't been playing the guitar for very long. I lack a formal music education. I'm teaching myself. Usually, when I play a tune for the first time I struggle a bit as I figure out the chord changes. This time, I didn't miss a beat.

The wonderful thing about learning to play the guitar has been the myriad little breakthroughs. It seems that I figure out a modest way to improve or discover an unexpected skill almost every time that I pick up the instrument.

If somebody had demonstrated to me how simply beatific the experience is, I would have started playing long ago.
