Last Friday, while performing some minor surgery on a G4 tower (swapping a DVD drive), I somehow managed to slice the side of my finger on the case.

I inevitably pick up a few scratches from working inside of computers, but I seldom get cut deeply enough to bleed and I've never had a cut so deep as this from a computer-case. I didn't see what bit me, but it painlessly sliced a flap of skin about 7/8ths of an inch long and about an 8th of an inch deep and left the flap attached by a very thin strip below my fingernail.

I carry alcohol swabs, Neo and band aids in my computer kit. I quickly got the flap cleaned and tightly bound with band aids and finished the job.

Three days later, there's some bruising and a tiny line visible at the edge of the wound.

That is amazing to me.

I should have taken pictures of the original wound. It looked nasty and bled through several layers of band aids. It didn't stop oozing until late Sunday.

Here's what it looks like today.

The lines of the injury have shrunk noticeably. It's down to under 5/8ths of an inch.

Here's a zoomed view of the edge of the wound.

I thought that I was going to lose that flap of skin, but it's pink and healthy. There's just a tiny fringe of dead skin at the very edge of the wound. At this rate, there will hardly be a sign of any injury by next week.
