John C. Welch summed it up nicely:"Why won't this site die like it was supposed to?" I don't like Apple's strong-arm tactics against rumor sites [See GraphicPower Site Closes in Protest]. I also don't like it when an admin like

at Graphic Power takes advantage of Apple's mistakes to stage a publicity campaign at Apple's expense. Part of being a good advocate of the platform is to call attention to its flaws, but Scott has taken things too far. Rather than following-through on his promise shut down his site in protest, he has apparently succomed to the lure of fame from his recent publicity. His site is up and he is singing to a new audience. Although Scott is still attending the expo and has gotten a tremendous show of public support, he is still painting himself a martyr. At the same time that all of this hullabaloo is going on, Microsoft is attacking Apple with a PR blitz designed to overshadow any Apple product announcements made at Macworld. Scott's noise detracts from Apple's ability to present a focussed response to Microsoft's attack. Funny thing: Apple (and IDG/Macworld Expo) wouldn't have any of this negative press if they simply announced their policies and products before the show. I know that some people are skipping the upcoming Macworld Expo because they are sure that Apple won't have any killer app or system announcement at the show. All of their info comes from rumor and speculation. Assume for a moment that Apple is about to announce their biggest product ever to hit the streets. Look at all of the people who are going to miss seeing it, just because Apple decided against a pre-announcement. I'm still hoping to see a huge surprise announcement at Javits tomorrow. I've attended at least one Macworld show every year since 1989 with similar expectations. In recent years, there have been far too many let-downs. It's getting hard to keep the faith in this climate. I can see how Scott needs to blow off a little steam. Let's not get carried away, though. It's time to shut up now, Scott.
